Photoshop, I love you.. I hate you. 05/05/2011
My relationship with Photoshop is a rather dedicated and loyal one. I spend time with it every day, for hours... and hours. We've become rather close and comfortable with one another. However, just when I let my guard down, Photoshop reminds me who's the boss. Hint: It's not me. Every once in a while, when I'm working on something that I consider to be rather important, Photoshop shuts me down. It grabs me by my figurative gonads and squeezes hard until they are nothing but mush on the ground. And there I am.. teary eyed and heartbroken, like the little girl that I am. Such an incident occurred today. I had spent the last two days, slowly and patiently, lining a new piece that I had hoped to be the first print/poster for sale in my new, online store. While experiencing a little bit of lag, I saved the file, and restarted my computer. Once things appeared to be on the up and up, I started my beloved Photoshop and attempted to open the file. Nope. Instead, I was greeted with an error message saying that the file could not be opened on that particular version of Photoshop. When in truth, it couldn't be opened on any version of Photoshop. It had been corrupted. Fortunately, I had sent a copy of the sketch to a friend. So, I'm able to clean that up and start lining again. All is not lost... only some time. I was hoping to launch my online store this weekend, but with this delay, it looks like it won't be up until the beginning of next week. Since, I have a couple of extra days, is there a piece that you would be interested in seeing as a print or poster? Let me know and I'll make it happen. You can either comment here, email me, or catch me on FB or Twitter. CommentsI think I could well say that yes there is a piece I would love for you to do...the only thing is it would be from a game that closed down last year. I see that you are on FB so I could re-direct you there to show you some of the shots of the 'fauna' that we took care of and how adorable they would be in picture form to keep for all eternity....I am also aware that there are a group of us x-FS'ers who may well be in the same boat and would enjoy a picture of our favourite 'fauna' - Tho' I am not too sure that the copyright situation would be - I've just thought of that whilst typing...but since we have our own photo's taken during game play, and I don't think they come under any rights to BFG (the company that was associated with Faunasphere) I can't see any reason why someone can't cobble together stuff and then sell their expertise at using 'photoshop' which a vast majority of people don't have the time or inclination to use or learn (myself included in this). Anyhoo, I got your details from Glitch and I am going to put your letter and cubimal somewhere else for someone else to pick up and read and hopefully come explore. Oh before I forget, I love your prints and artistry - your jelly fish lady and easter bunny would make great 't' shirts . :-) Leave a Reply |
